I am a legacy kid. My mom founded Heritage when I was seven, and as such, I’ve grown up around this business. I watched cartoons in the back room of our first building at 1263 S. Main Street, practiced math on the office whiteboards, did homework at various desks, and busied myself by rolling around in the agents’ desk chairs. I’d listen to my mom making deals and talking property on vacations, at home, and on weekends. I learned more than I realized—until I took the state real estate exam for my own license.

I grew up on these streets. I watched the North View Estates subdivision go in, attended Gold Street School before it closed (then it reopened), then Jackson Street School, and later Yreka High School. I grew up attending open houses with my mom and watching—equal parts horrified and amused—when she’d spot a “For Sale” sign and jump out of the car to see if the home was vacant by peeking in the windows. (She still does this, even on vacations.)

Working in real estate was never something I thought I’d be doing, but at least now my mom’s not alone as she goes running up to houses. In fact, now she has an alibi — and a getaway driver. When I’m not acting as her wheelman, I have a small farm of animals, three kids, and a husband who is hands-down my favorite human in the world.
