I was raised in San Francisco in the Excelsior District. In 1972 I went to Humboldt State University and majored in Forestry. I graduated in 1975 and was a forestry contractor right out of school. While the work was rewarding the pay was less than desirable and so I looked for a way to make a better living.
I began my real estate career in Sacramento in 1979. In addition to selling residential real estate I was involved with buying and selling fixer upper houses. That led to doing small developments in the Sacramento area and building new custom homes.
In 1984 I had the opportunity to get involved with forestry work in Siskiyou County. I moved to Siskiyou County where I have worked as a consulting forester for the last 35 years. My work as a Registered Professional Forester has provided me the opportunity to get to know many people in Siskiyou County and to visit a great many woodland properties. I decided in 2004 to utilize my forestry background and my knowledge of the real estate profession in combination in order to help people buy or sell forest property.
At present I devote the majority of my time in real estate to helping people find the right property for their particular situation. There are many reasons people wish to own forest property. Some people want to manage a small forest tract, taking a “hands on” approach to forest management. Others may be looking for a patch of land that they can call their own and just get away from it all. While the reasons for owning timberland vary, looking at forest property never gets old for me. I thoroughly enjoy helping people understand what they are looking at while in the woods.
If you are thinking about owning a piece of land with tree cover there are many things to consider before buying. When you’re ready give me a call and we can set up a time to take a walk in the woods.
